Officially implemented! Western Australia has banned single-use, non-compostable coffee cups

Non-compostable coffee cups and single-use plastic LIDS are officially banned in Western Australia from October 1 as part of the second phase of WA's nationally leading plastics program, with the threat of hefty fines for non-compliance - up to $5,000 for individuals and $25,000 for businesses.

Compostable cups certified to the Australian Composting Standard are not included in the ban.
